The Nazarenos of Spain

The week leading up to Easter is known as "Holy Week" in Spain. For each day of this week, Catholic brotherhoods called "Nazarenos" walk the streets with elegant processions that commemorate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Women and children are allowed to join these brotherhoods as well.

Nazarenos have been a part of Spanish tradition for centuries. Despite the visual resemblance to the KKK, these brotherhoods are not affiliated with them at all.

These photos were taken in Seville, Spain.
